So here we are at the beginning once again. The 2003 worlds are about to get under way and the Levante winds are back upon us. During the night we had gusts in excess of 30 knots and this morning a steady 25 plus was being recorded. The mistral fleet has 120 men and 73 women. Fleets will be split in to groupings gold and silver to have a 6 race qualifying period. The women are rumoured to have the same system in place as well for this championship. Jessica Crisp was heard to have said "All the grannies are back" referring to all the women who have been sailing on the scene for years e.g.Lanee Beashel (formerly Butler), Barbara Kendall, Masako Imai, Alessandra Sensini . The fleet however keeps on renewing it self through younger competitors, and always has a huge depth of talent being fed from Aloha and junior Imco (73 males recorded at the Youth Europeans). Races are scheduled for a twelve o'clock start and I'm sure that were are in for an exciting action packed regatta, with any one of a dozen competitors able to take top position in both fleets. Who will be Victorious?
