Questions on equipment restriction and class rules

1.Are sailors allowed to use 2000 sails at the European Champs. THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON EQUIPMENT FOR THE EUROPEANS. INDEED THE ISAF HAVE NOT FINALLY DECIDED TO RESTRICT IT FOR THE WORLDS EITHER. THEIR EXECUTIVE SEEM TO WANT TO DO SO BUT I BELIEVE THAT THE MID YEAR MEETING WILL BE ASKED TO DECIDE. PERSONALLY I THINK THAT TO RESTRICT THE OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS (2003/2004 WORLDS) TO TUNED MODs IS PREJUIDICAL TO THE RACERS ESPECIALLY AS TESTING HAS SHOWN NO REAL PERFORMANCE DIFFERENCE. PLEASE GET ONTO YOUR ISAF DELEGATES AND EXPLAIN THE POINT OF VIEW SO THAT THEY ARE WELL BRIEFED.
2. Will competitors use their own equipment or will it be supplied at the Olympic Games COMPETITORS CAN BRING THEIR OWN EQUIPMENT BUT IT MUST BE THE 2003 TUNED MOD (BOUGHT AFTER APRIL 1ST 2003)
3. Is there any proposed ruling on sanding the boards for the Europeans. If the situation is status quo... If there is a protest regarding a significant difference on the textured surface of unsanded new boards and it is deemed that this would contribute significantly to a difference in performance - what plans are there to resolve this situation? GOOD QUESTION... THE NEW CLASS RULES PERMIT SANDING OF THE HULL
