This years Mistral Europeans takes place in beautiful Sopot, Poland, which is located nearby Gdansk and directly on the Baltic Sea…
The newly built windsurfing club right on the beach has great access for easy launching for the 115 men and 61 women competitiors from over 36 nations that are here to compete for the titles.
Currently measurement is underway and tomorrow the practice race at 2:00PM should give the competitors good preparation for the racing which starts on Sunday. The opening ceremony Saturday night will have entertainment by Wojtek Staroniewicz a jazz band, as well as free beverages and dinner provided.
The racing is scheduled from the 5th to 12th of June with one layday on the 9th if racing is on schedule.
The weather here has been light sea breezes with warm sunny skies and is predicted to continue this way for the remainder of the competition. In contrary to the Worlds in Cesme which favoured the high wind enthusiasts, this Europeans looks like it will be a pumpathon.
So far sailors enjoying the nice set up here with chill out music at the rigging area and the tasty and cheap food at Sopot Windsurfing Club Restaurant.
We look forward to the racing from tomorrow on, so stay tuned.
