    Olympic Games - Tuesday 17 August 2004
    Posted On:  17/08/2004 21:15:46

After a protest, race 1 of the Men's Mistral was abandoned as none of the boats finished the course in correct fashion. The winner of the first race, Nikolaos KAKLAMANAKIS (GRE), lost valuable points because of the abandonment and one of the pre-competition favorites, Julien BONTEMPS (FRA), was disqualified after measurement of his boat.

In the Women's Mistral, Alessandra SENSINI (IT) is leading the overall rankings with eight points, just one point ahead of Olga MASLIVETS (UKR). A further point behind is Barbara KENDALL (NZL) and Zofia KLEPACKA (POL), while LEE Lai Shan (HKG) is fifth. The battle for the first place is expected fierce, particularly seeing as though KENDALL and Faustine MERRET (FRA) crossed the finish line with the same time in the first race.
