Beautiful sunny skies, spectators crowding on to the beach. 118 competitors from over 21 nations are set to compete for the 2005 world IMCO championships.
The fact that the class is no longer Olympic has not stopped both seasoned athletes as well as first time juniors and youths from attending. The Albaria club last held the IMCO worlds in 1992, and still has a strong One design racing circuit, including sailors from juniors all the way to grand masters.
To add to the mix, the IMCO Youth Europeans, a Jazz festival, a Beach volleyball competition, and the likes of world famous naked chef, Jamie Oliver, are making this event one of the most fun and diverse happenings of the sailing year.
Racing starts tomorrow at one o'clock. The weather gurus are forecasting a range of conditions during the event, not to mention the off the water parties featuring DJ Ricardo Giordano. Ric who has represented Italy 3 times at the Olympic level and will be behind the turntables helping every body relax after racing.
